As the year progress and 2004 became 2005, with British forces fighting in Iraq, the tone of the site became more "shouty". During 2005 energies were directed towards Backing Blair, an exercise in on-line activism which had the goal of getting Labour returned to power, but with such a bloody nose that the party would ditch Tony Blair. It was fun and hard work, but ultimately failed to achieve its goals.

Along with the post-Backing Blair downer life intruded and blogging fell off. And apart from occasional half-hearted efforts, The UK Today has languished until 2013.
